Learn about upcoming efforts to transform Diridon Station at the Diridon Integrated Station Concept Plan (Concept Plan) Community Kick-off Meeting on December 10, 2018.
The California High-Speed Rail Authority, Caltrain, City of San José, and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority have formed a partnership to transform Diridon Station and have hired Arcadis and Benthem Crouwel to initiate a Concept Plan for this important regional transportation hub in downtown San José.
At the meeting, the community will learn about the high-level project vision statement, the scope of the Concept Plan and how it relates to past and current planning efforts, and opportunities to engage in the planning process.

Major transportation investments are planned for Diridon Station, including the addition of California High- Speed Rail, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), and electrified Caltrain service. These will add to the existing commuter rail, light rail, and bus services at the station. The City has also adopted plans for substantial transit-oriented development near the station, which would bring thousands of new jobs and residents to the area.
With these changes, Diridon Station is poised to become one of the busiest intermodal stations on the West Coast. The four partner agencies are preparing the Concept Plan with the goal of delivering a world-class transportation hub that provides a seamless passenger experience and enhances connectivity with the surrounding neighborhood and Downtown.
Preparation of the Concept Plan is expected to take 18 months to complete, and will develop:
(1) A spatial configuration for the station that integrates the various transportation modes;
(2) A framework for enabling multi-modal station access and creating a harmonious relationship between the station and surroundings;
(3) An effective organizational structure to deliver the shared vision.
The Concept Plan will primarily address the station and its interface with the urban fabric – this includes the track and station layout, passenger flows within the station, access to the station by various transportation options (such as walking and bus), and integration with surrounding development. The Concept Plan will focus on the functioning of the station, rather than its appearance. The Concept Plan is not planning for the specific land uses or buildings in the area as the City of San José will conduct separate engagement activities related to future development.
