Electric Vehicle Charge Rates Reduced

It’s now cheaper to charge your electric vehicle (EV) at VTA Park and Ride lots.  Beginning March 1st, the cost to charge EVs was reduced to $1.00 an hour, aligning the charges with reduced PG&E winter rates.

VTA currently provides five public EV chargers installed at the Eastridge Transit Center Park & Ride lot, and four EV chargers located at the River Oaks campus. The charging stations are connected to the ChargePoint network which includes over 46,800 spots for EV drivers nationwide to charge up with ease using the ChargePoint mobile app.

More EV chargers are on the way! Through VTA’s Sustainability Program, VTA has installed an additional twenty-four EV Stations at each of the newly constructed Milpitas and Berryessa BART Station Park & Ride lots, which will open when BART Silicon Valley service begins.  We are also evaluating plans to add eight more charging stations at other VTA Park and Ride lots.

The charging rates will be reviewed again in May with any additional changes going into effect June 1, 2018.
