Beginning December 5 through early January, you’ll see VTA’s yellow-vested Outreach Team at select transit centers throughout Santa Clara County distributing information on the new fare structure and transfer policy.
Effective January 1, 2018, two-hour fares that include FREE transfers will be available to customers using a Clipper card or VTA’s mobile fare app, EZfare. After the first tag on Clipper or upon activating a Single Ride fare your smartphone through EZfare, customers will be able to transfer within the next two hours for free across all VTA bus and light rail service (except Express Bus*.)
To receive the benefit of two-hour, free transfer fares cash paying customers are encouraged to begin using the EZfare app which you can download on your phone, or Clipper cards, to pay for rides on VTA. These free transfers are only available to those paying with electronic fare methods.
If you don’t have a Clipper Card, keep your eye out for our Outreach team who will be handing out FREE Clipper Cards for a limited time while supplies last.
