Stakeholder Groups Share Principles, Help Envision Silicon Valley

VTA is holding meetings with key stakeholder groups as part of Envision Silicon Valley community visioning process that will help us prepare for the possibility of placing a transportation sales tax measure on the ballot in 2016. The potential measure would be crafted to enhance transit, highways, expressways and active transportation (bicycles, pedestrians and complete streets).

Last week, we met for the first time with two of the stakeholder groups, the Community Interest and Transportation Advocacy groups, to discuss current and future transportation needs, identify shared principles and craft goals that will help guide funding priorities.

These groups will provide their vision and input to VTA staff, who will work through the process with the Envision Silicon Valley ad-hoc committee of the VTA Board of Directors. This input and guidance will shape VTA's approach to three primary steps in this process:

1. Develop criteria that will be used to create a viable list of transportation projects.
2. Establish a list of transportation projects, based on the criteria to address mobility and congestion.
3. Create a financing plan.

You can find more information about Envision Silicon Valley at or by emailing We will also be sharing information here and on social media (follow @VTA on Twitter and like us at about upcoming opportunities for you to share your vision and input.
