VTA Has Special Holiday Schedules, Free Service on New Year’s Eve

|

VTA will operate holiday service on Thursday, December 25, 2014 and Thursday, January 1, 2015, for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, and some commute service will be canceled on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

For New Year’s Eve, between 8 p.m. on December 31 and 5 a.m. on January 1, all VTA service will be free, and both light rail and Express Bus 181 will also have expanded service. More about that below.

All customers are encouraged to check the VTA schedule for their return trips to ensure they do not miss their bus or train.

  • Lines 304, 321, 328 and 330
  • All Express bus lines EXCEPT lines 180 and 181
  • Commuter Express on light rail
  • DASH Shuttle service
  • ACE Train and Shuttles
Customer Service
So that our employees can celebrate with their families, the VTA Call Center and the Downtown Customer Service Center will close at 4 p.m. on December 24 and December 31.

Free New Year’s Eve Service
VTA, along with our transportation partners around the region, offer free rides between 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 5 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Normally, VTA doesn’t run that late, but we are extending some service to run a little later that night.

The Santa Teresa-Alum Rock line will have extended hours, with the last northbound train leaving the Santa Clara Station in downtown San Jose at 2:20 a.m. and the last southbound train leaving that station at 2:22 a.m.

The Mountain View-Winchester line will also run later, with the last northbound train leaving the Santa Clara Station in downtown San Jose at 1:33 a.m. and the last southbound train leaving that station at 1:52 a.m. The northbound train will only go as far as the Baypointe station, but we’ll have buses on standby there to take passengers to Mountain View, if needed.

We are extending the hours of our Express 181 line, with the last northbound bus leaving San Jose Diridon Station at 2:04 a.m. and the last southbound bus leaving the Fremont BART Station at 3:04 a.m.

Check schedules at VTA.org and plan ahead so you can enjoy your night and not have to worry about driving!
