Viva CalleSJ – Downtown and Eastbound!5/13/2019 4:24 PM |
VTA is taking part once again in Viva CalleSJ this Sunday, May 19th, and you’re invited to bike, skate or walk along!
This is a free recreation event that closes miles of San Jose streets to motorized vehicles, allowing for walking, biking, skating and exploring the city’s varied communities. You’ll find games, food trucks, cultural performances and a chance to check out VTA buses and learn how to load a bicycle onto our bus bike racks. Businesses along the way will remain open as well.
There are four activity hubs along the route that runs from St. James Park in Downtown San Jose to Emma Prusch Park in East San Jose, along Market and 1st Streets, turning onto parts of Willow, Keyes and Story Road. The hubs are at St. James Park, Plaza de Cesar Chavez, Parque de los Pobladores, and Emma Prusch Park.
VTA bus service that normally runs along the route will be re-routed. You can find more information on those re-routes here.
Streets will be closed for setup at 6 am and activities run from 10 am to 3 pm. The route opens back up to vehicle traffic at 4 pm.
