A person or vehicle is hit by a train in the U.S. every three hours. To highlight safe practices around trains, VTA is out in the community raising awareness about the importance of not being distracted or taking risks around the light rail system.

New Law Requires Drivers to Give Bicyclists Three Feet

Starting today, Sept 16, California drivers will be required to give bicyclists at least three feet of space when passing. VTA supports the new law because it makes cycling a safer, more comfortable way to get around.

VTA Shifting Alum Rock Avenue Traffic Starting September 18

Over the next three weeks, crews will shift traffic starting at U.S. 101 and work east to I-680 to make room for bus rapid transit project construction. This configuration will be in place for the next five months.

Governor Signs Cap-and-Trade Spending Plan with Transportation Funding

Gov. Jerry Brown has signed two bills that together create a short-term and long-term spending plan for cap-and-trade auction sales. This includes $872 million for the next fiscal year and much more in the future, much of it planned for transportation.
