Free Transfers on Clipper

Payment for a single ride with Clipper will be valid for 2 hours of FREE transfers across VTA buses and light rail. (Express bus fare is required for any trip that includes express service.  Adult passengers traveling from a local bus to an express bus, using a Clipper card, will have to pay a surcharge of $2.25.  This amount must be in the form of Clipper cash only.  Passengers cannot pay this surcharge in cash.  Youth and Senior/Disabled riders who transfer from local to express service will not have a surcharge.)

You must tag your card every time you board, but you will not be charged for trips taken within 2 hours of your first tag. Using Clipper, instead of cash, will provide you this important benefit!

VTA is also launching its new EZfare mobile payment app.

Please note the following details:

  • All Community Bus fares will be discontinued as all Community Bus routes will become regular bus routes.

  • Adults transferring from VTA Regular Bus or VTA Light Rail to a VTA Express Bus pay a surcharge of $2.25 on Clipper.  Youth and Senior/Disabled riders may board VTA Express Bus without a surcharge.
