Route 85/U.S. 101 (North) Interchange Project

What: Pothole repair, signage installation, striping and debris clean up
Where: Various locations throughout project area
When: August 28 through September 1, 2006; 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

I-880/Coleman Interchange Project

What: Daytime and nighttime various lane closures on Coleman Avenue in San Jose
Where: B etween Hedding Street and Aviation Avenue
When: August 28 through September 1, 2006; intermittent work between 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Why: Crews will continue underground utilities and median work

What: Daytime intersection work in San Jose
Where: A t the intersection of Coleman Avenue and Airport Boulevard, Coleman Avenue and Hedding Street, and Coleman Avenue and Newhall Drive
When: August 28 through September 1, 2006; intermittent work between 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Why: Crews will continue underground utilities work

What: Crews will grade between Hedding Street and Aviation Avenue, between Coleman Avenue and the Guadalupe River, and at the southbound Coleman Avenue on-ramp to southbound I-880; work on electrical systems on Airport Boulevard and Coleman Avenue between Hedding Street and Aviation Avenue; install various underground utilities along Coleman Avenue between Hedding Street and Aviation

Avenue and along Hedding Street between Spring Street and Coleman Avenue; construct retaining walls, pump station and operations building; and finalize work in the under crossing which serves as a direct connector ramp from Airport Boulevard to southbound I-880. Minimal traffic or neighborhood impacts are anticipated.
When : August 28 through September 2, 2006; 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Route 87 (North) HOV Lanes Project

Freeway, Ramp and Lane Closures

What: Partial closure of southbound Route 87 between the Park Avenue off-ramp and the Auzerais Avenue on-ramp.
When: August 28, 2006 through September 2, 2006. Midnight to 6:00 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning and midnight to 8:00 a.m. on Friday night.
Why: Due to demolition work

What: Closure of the northbound Route 87 to the northbound I-280 ramp
When: September 3, 2006 to September 2, 2006. 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday night, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning.
Why: Installation of metal beam guard rail and slope paving
Detour: Traffic will be detoured to southbound I-280, Tenth Street and back to northbound I-280

What: Various lane closures on the northbound Route 87 Downtown Connector between I-280 to north of the westbound Julian Avenue off-ramp in San Jose
When: September 3, 2006 to September 1, 2006, 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Sunday night, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday evening through Saturday morning.
Why: Due to installation of metal beam guard rail and removal of k-rail

Surface Street Lane Closures
What: Partial closures on eastbound and westbound West Julian Street at Route 87 undercrossing
When: September 3, 2006 to September 2, 2006, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. westbound, 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. eastbound
Why: Crews will be slope paving

What: Partial closure on southbound North Almaden Boulevard at Route 87 undercrossing
When: September 3, 2006 to September 2, 2006, midnight to 5:00 am
Why: Backfill and site clean-up work

What: Partial closures on westbound and eastbound West San Fernando Street at Route 87 undercrossing
When: September 3, 2006 to September 2, 2006, midnight to 5:00 am
Why: Due to demolition work

What: Partial closures on West Santa Clara Street at the Route 87 undercrossing
When: September 3, 2006 to September 2, 9 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday and 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday
Why: Due to demolition work

Long-term Detour:
What: Long-term detour of northbound Route 87 traffic onto the Downtown Connector in San Jose
Where: The Downtown Connector is the roadway that is parallel to and immediately east of the Downtown Connector is the roadway that is parallel to and immediately east of the mainline that allows exits to Santa Clara and Julian Streets and accepts traffic from I-280
When: Monday, September 12, 2005 and continuing through early 2007
Detour: All northbound traffic will be detoured onto the Downtown Connector south of I-280. Northbound Route 87 traffic will then merge back onto the mainline roadway north of Julian Street.

Long-term On-ramp Closure:
What: Closure of the Park Avenue on-ramp to northbound Route 87 in San Jose
When: September 12, 2005 and continuing through early 2007
Why: Due to the northbound Route 87 mainline closure the Park Avenue on-ramp must also remain close
Detour: Motorists will be detoured to northbound Almaden Boulevard, onto to Notre Dame Street to northbound Route 87.

Guadalupe River Park Trail Closure :

What: Due to construction activities, a portion of the Guadalupe River Park Trail is temporarily closed.
Where: Between Santa Clara and San Fernando Streets
Detour: From Santa Clara Street: Go west on Santa Clara Street past the San Jose Water Company, turn left on Delmas Avenue, and left on San Fernando Street to return to the trail. From San Fernando Street: Go west on San Fernando Street, turn right on Delmas Avenue, turn right on Santa Clara Street, continue straight past the San Jose Water Company to return to the trail.
When: Lower path opening: Expected December 2006

Upper path opening: Expected Spring 2007

Downtown San Jose Platform Retrofit Project

What: The scheduled activity for the week is the installation of granite.
Where: North and southbound light rail platforms at St. James Light Rail Station in downtown San Jose.
When: August 28, 2006 through September 1 , 2006, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Why: Crews are rebuilding the platform to allow for level boarding between light rail vehicles and the station platform.

Route 17 Improvement Project

What: Nighttime various lane closures on northbound Route 17 in Campbell
Where: Between Camden and Hamilton Avenues
When: August 7 through August 11, 2006,; 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.; August 11 through August 12, 2006; 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Why: Crews will move safety barriers

What: Nighttime closure of the westbound Camden Avenue on-ramp to northbound Route 17 in Campbell
When: August 8 through August 11, 2006; 12:01 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.; August 11 through August 12, 2006; 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Why: Crews will move safety barriers
Detour: Continue on westbound Camden Avenue, make a U-turn at Winchester Boulevard, take eastbound Camden Avenue to the northbound Route 17 on-ramp

What: Nighttime closure of the northbound Route 17 off-ramp to Hamilton Avenue in Campbell
When: August 8 through August 11, 2006; 12:01 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.; August 11 through August 12, 2006; 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Why: Crews will move safety barriers
Detour: Continue on northbound Route 17, make a U-turn at Stevens Creek Boulevard, take the southbound Route 17 off-ramp to Hamilton Avenue

What: Roadwork on northbound Route 17 in Campbell
Where: Between Camden and Hamilton Avenues
When: August 7 through August 12, 2006; 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Why: Crews will excavate roadway and construct retaining and soundwalls

Route 152 Improvements Project

What: Daytime work on Route 152/Pacheco Pass Highway in Gilroy
Where: F rom ConAgra Foods to east of Llagas Creek
When: August 28 through September 1, 2006; 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Why: Crews will begin to pour piles (bridge columns) for the widening of Route 152 at Old Llagas Creek

Consolidated Biological Mitigation Project

What: Crews will continue plant monitoring and maintenance. Plants will be watered by an irrigation system and water trucks.
Where: Along Coyote Creek in south San Jose
When: March 2004 through March 2007, intermittent daytime hours

What: Crews will install plants, irrigation and electrical system in south San Jose
Where: Along the Route 85/U.S. 101 (South) interchange
When: August 28 through September 1, 2006; intermittent daytime hours
