Chris Moylan
VTA Alternate Board Member

Newly appointed for 2008, Sunnyvale Council Member Chris Moylan serves as an alternate member on the VTA Board of Directors representing City Group 2 (the North County cities of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Santa Clara, and Sunnyvale).  He also serves on VTA’s Policy Advisory Committee representing Sunnyvale, having done so since 2006.  He is in his second year serving as the PAC Chair. 
 
Alternate Member Moylan is a member of the Sunnyvale City Council, being elected in 2005.  He previously served for five years on the Sunnyvale Planning Commission.  Prior to that, he had been appointed to the 1996 Measure B Citizens’ Watchdog Committee, serving as the inaugural Vice Chair.  Before that, he was appointed to the Santa Clara County Transportation Commission in 1991, serving on the Planning subcommittee and as Chair of the 29-member Commission in 1993.  He was selected for the Local Transportation Authority Citizens’ Oversight Committee that same year and served as the inaugural Chair. 
 
Alternate Member Moylan grew up in Pleasantville, New York.  He earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University in 1979, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University in 1984.  He is currently Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Laboratories in the Stanford Chemistry Department, as well as Adjunct Professor of electrical engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
