Ken Yeager Ex-Officio Member Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)
Santa Clara County Supervisor Ken Yeager serves on the VTA Board of Directors as an Ex-Officio Member representing the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), doing so since 2007. He also holds the MTC seat on the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers (Caltrain) Board and the Santa Clara County seat for the Silicon Valley Rapid Transit Corridor Policy Advisory Board.
Ex-Officio Member Yeager currently serves on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. Elected in June 2006, he represents Supervisorial District 4, which includes the cities of Campbell and Santa Clara, as well as West San José and the Burbank and Cambrian neighborhoods of San José.
Prior public and community service includes serving six years on the San José City Council, elected first in 2000 and again 2004. Prior to that, he served two terms as a Trustee of the San Jose Evergreen Community College District, from 1992-2000. He is actively engaged in community service as a member of various boards and actively supports many local organizations including the Arts Council Silicon Valley, Friends of the Guadalupe River Park and Gardens, the Rose Garden Neighborhood Preservation Association, and Friends of the Rose Garden Library.
Ex-Officio Member Yeager earned a B.A. in political science from San José State University (SJSU) and an M.A. in sociology and a Ph.D. in education from Stanford University . Prior to his public service career, he taught full time in the Political Science Department at SJSU for 12 years. Ex-Officio Member Yeager has completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University , as well as the Ethics in Public Service Program sponsored by the Josephson Institute of Ethics. Ex-Officio Member Yeager continues to teach one course at San José State University , utilizing community involvement and public service experience in the process.
