David Casas
VTA Board Member

Los Altos City Council Mayor Pro Tem David Casas serves on the VTA Board of Directors representing City Group 2 (the North County Cities of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale), having been appointed in 2008.   He also serves on VTA’s Administration and Finance Committee, Audit Committee, and the Dumbarton Rail Project Policy Advisory Board.   For 2009, he is serving as the Audit Committee’s vice chairperson.  Previously, he served on the VTA Board of Directors during 2004 and 2005, and the Policy Advisory Committee during 2006 and 2007.

Member Casas serves on the Los Altos City Council.   He was elected in 2003, re-elected in 2007, and served as mayor during 2004 – 2005.  He is serving as Los Altos’ mayor pro tem during 2009.

Prior civic service includes the Los Altos School District Board of Trustees from 1999-2003 and the Los Altos Parks, Arts & Recreation Commission.

Member Casas received a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from San José State University and a Masters degree in Technology Management from Pepperdine University.   He began his finance career working in high tech companies, and approximately a decade ago joined LifeScan, a Johnson & Johnson company.   For the past few years, Member Casas has been managing Community Relations for LifeScan, coordinating targeted philanthropy, employee engagement, and supporting programs to help at-risk youth.
