BOARD MEMORANDUM

FOR DISCUSSION ONLY

Committee for Transit Accessibility members requested that they be added to distribution lists to receive agendas and agenda packets for VTA advisory and standing committees as well as the Board of Directors.   The VTA Board Secretary’s Office will contact everyone currently on distribution lists to ask if the individuals want to remain on the lists.   If so, each individual will be asked to complete and return a form.   CTA members can either submit the form or they can let staff know if they want to remain on distribution lists at the December 12, 2007 meeting.  

Pursuant to the Brown Act Section 54954.1- Any request for mailed copies of agendas or agenda packets shall be valid for the calendar year in which it is filed, and must be renewed following January 1 of each calendar year.   The Brown Act also states that a legislative body like VTA may establish a fee for mailing the agenda or agenda packet, which fee shall not exceed the cost of providing the service.

VTA staff is requesting that CTA members update their requests to be placed on distribution lists for the Board of Directors, advisory and standing committees.   Committee members will also need to inform staff of the format they prefer to receive the information.   Agendas and agenda packets can be distributed electronically, by regular mail or in accessible formats.
