| SUBJECT: |
Freeway Litter Control and Replacement Landscaping Program: |
FOR INFORMATION ONLY
At its December 9, 2004 meeting,
the VTA Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) requested that VTA initiate a study
investigating the potential of developing a countywide freeway litter control
and landscaping maintenance program.
VTA hired TY Lin to conduct litter
and landscaping maintenance study, which was presented at the March 9, 2005 TAC
Meeting. The study indicated that litter and landscaping maintenance
for Santa Clara County highways is a greater issue as compared to other areas of
the State.
A subcommittee was convened to
look at the source of the litter problem, to determine the desired litter
control and landscape maintenance standards, to determine the resources needed
to achieve the desired standards, and to develop and analyze implementation
alternatives.
At its September 8, 2005 meeting,
the TAC will receive an update regarding the progress of the
study.
