BOARD MEMORANDUM

RECOMMENDATION:

Recognize: Jesse Delacerda, Cerone Maintenance; Nancy Gaudette, Chaboya Operations; and Eugene Craig, Cerone Administration, as our Employees of the Month for September 2002; and Dennis Harris as Supervisor of the Quarter.

BACKGROUND: 

Jesse Delacerda, Service Mechanic at Cerone Division has served VTA for nearly 23 years.  His goal is to exceed expectations and excel at every assignment.  Jesse is a conscientious worker who is dedicated to getting the job done right the first time.  When asked what is the most important part of his job, he said it is to help our operators get the public to their destinations.  He accomplishes this by acting as a role model for his coworkers, always using his knowledge and experience to troubleshoot problems and get coaches out in a timely manner.  He is truly an asset to his department. Congratulations to Jesse Delacerda, Maintenance Employee of the Month for September 2002!  

Nancy Gaudette, Coach Operator at the Chaboya Division, has served VTA for over 20 years.  She is an exemplary employee who makes customer service her highest priority.  Nancy owns her job by arriving early every day to make a thorough check of her bus and ensure her readiness to serve the community.  She provides courteous service to her passengers and has thoroughly learned connecting routes to provide accurate directions to our customers.  Nancy has an excellent attendance record and is a dependable team member.  Congratulations to Nancy Gaudette, Operations Employee of the Month for September 2002!

Eugene Craig, Office Specialist II at the Cerone Division Overhaul and Repair Department, has served VTA for nearly 4 years.  He pays close attention to the needs of his coworkers and responds to them with innovations and initiative.  He provides his coworkers with prompt and accurate assistance, usually doing more than he is asked.  His positive attitude and proactive work saves his coworkers a lot of time.  He is enthusiastic, energetic, and contributes to a positive work environment.  Congratulations to Eugene Craig, Administration Employee of the Month for September 2002!

Dennis Harris, Transportation Supervisor at the Guadalupe Division, has served VTA for more than 21 years.  He is a leader and a problem solver as indicated by his ability to supervise operators and give them the direction and support they need.  He recently displayed his take charge attitude at the Santa Theresa Light Rail Station when several VTA customers were stranded.  Dennis sprang to action, extending his workday to take these customers to their destinations in Gilroy.  He is an excellent role model who maintains a consistently positive attitude and calm demeanor during critical times.  Congratulations to Dennis Harris, Supervisor of the Quarter 2002!
