BOARD MEMORANDUM

RECOMMENDATION:

Recognize: Belete Bekele, Guadalupe Maintenance; Nancy Jones, Cerone Operations; and, Edgardo Pasucal, Vasona Field Office Administration; as our Employees of the Month for August 2003.

BACKGROUND: 

Belete Bekele, Substation Maintainer, Way, Power & Signal Department at Guadalupe, has served VTA for more than 9 years.   He is known as one who applies his expertise to every situation and sets high standards for delivering customer service.  A recent example of this was when Belete s supervisor asked him to investigate an unresolved major power failure problem at his work site.  As usual, Belete fixed the problem with 100% accuracy.  He is a true asset to his department.  Congratulations to Belete Bekele, Maintenance Employee of the Month for August 2003!

Nancy Jones, Dispatcher at the Cerone Division has served VTA with excellence for nearly 15 years.  Her priority is to make sure service is ready and available for our customers. She is consistently successful in overcoming challenges due to limited personnel and equipment resources.  Nancy remains calm in stressful situations, and treats operators with kindness and professionalism.  She is a conscientious worker who is always willing to go the extra mile. Congratulations to Nancy Jones, Operations Employee of the Month for August 2003!  

Ed Pasucal, Senior Construction Inspector at the Vasona Field Office, has served VTA for more than 5 years.  He has discovered that the key to providing excellent service is to maintain close contact with all customers.  It is Eds regular practice to resolve problems in the field one-on-one with the contractor.  Recently, when a resident had questions about construction projects in his neighborhood, Ed offered to personally meet him and answer his questions.  He is proactive and enthusiastic. Congratulations to Ed Pasucal, Administration Employee of the Month for August 2003!
