Resolution for Retiring VTA Employee Richard Golda |
RECOMMENDATION:
BACKGROUND:
Richard Golda, Bus Operations Superintendent, has provided excellent service and outstanding leadership for over 30 years. His work ethic, dedication, leadership, and experience distinguish him as an exceptional employee and valuable role model. Rich began his career in September 1974 as a Bus Operator and Floating Dispatcher. He served in this capacity until 1980 when he promoted to Bus Transportation Supervisor. He transferred to the Guadalupe Light Rail Division in 1986 as one of our first Light Rail Transportation Supervisors and assisted with the implementation of VTA’s light rail service.
Rich’s skill as a Supervisor did not go unnoticed and, in 1990, he was promoted to Light Rail Superintendent at the Guadalupe Division. The story does not end there. From 1995 to 2000 Rich served effectively as VTA’s Deputy Director of Transportation. In 2000, he returned to his roots in Bus Transportation, taking the position of Bus Transportation Superintendent at the Cerone Division, where he has mentored countless number of Transportation Supervisors and Superintendents. His diligent, can-do attitude has been an inspiration to all who know him. Congratulations to Richard Golda.
