Long Term Care insurance provides extended care due to chronic illness, disability, or frailty of old age (not covered by health insurance or Medicare).  Medical insurance and Medicare do not cover long-term care costs. 

All VTA employees and retirees, and their spouses, adult siblings, parents, and parents-in-law are eligible to apply (even if not covered by the CalPERS retirement system).

The Open Enrollment application period is usually between April and August each year.  Contact CalPERS for more information and the next enrollment period.
