Employee Health Plan Coverage
ATU Represented Employees
Full-time ATU represented employees pay $25 per month for their medical coverage.
Part-time ATU represented employees pay $25 per month, plus 50% of the employer cost, in the first year of employment. They pay $25 per month, plus 20% of the employer cost, in the second year and after.
Administrative Employees
Full-time administrative employees (working 32 hours or more per week) pay $25 per month for their medical coverage, plus any premium in excess of the Kaiser family rate.
Effective 5/19/08, non-represented and AFSCME represented employees pay $35 per month for their medical coverage, plus any premium in the excess of the lowest-cost family monthly rate.
Effective 5/19/08, SEIU represented employees pay $35 per month for their medical coverage, plus any premium in the excess of the Kaiser family rate.
Effective 10/6/08, TAEA represented employees pay $35 per month for their medical coverage, plus any premium in the excess of the Kaiser family rate.
Administrative employees must work a minimum of 20 hours per week to be eligible for benefits. Part-time employees (working less than 32 hours) pay a pro-rated share, depending on the number of work hours.
Health Plans
Medical Opt-Out - Full-time employees may opt-out and receive a taxable monthly payment if they have other coverage. Employees who have a spouse or registered domestic partner working at VTA are not eligible for Medical Opt-Out.

ATU Represented Employees - Eye exam and lenses every 12 months; frames every 24 months; total deductible $10
Administrative Employees - Eye exam every 12 months - $20 deductible; lenses & frames every 12 months - $20 deductible

Pays 100% for most services. Co-pay and upgrade fee for others.
