Ken Yeager

en Yeager is a County Supervisor and a member of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the Bay Area’s transportation planning and financing agency. Ken is an avid runner and cyclist. He is also a champion for livable, sustainable communities.
“Pedestrian and bike trails are important to the health of our residents and our environment,” said Yeager. “Trails provide an escape from the hubbub of city living. They provide an outlet for exercise, recreation, and relaxation.”
Trails are also an important part of the County’s transportation network by providing cyclists and pedestrians safer options for their commutes and reducing the need to travel by car. Santa Clara County is working closely with its cities and VTA to provide even more bicycle and pedestrian friendly trails.
VTA’s Bicycle Expenditure Program provides funds specifically for bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Working with bicycle and pedestrian representatives from each city as well as the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is able to set priorities.
As a reminder, VTA allows bicycles on bus and light rail. There are also bicycle lockers for rent at many VTA Light Rail Stations, Transit Centers, and Park and Ride lots. VTA’s free Bikeway Map is also a great source to find out where popular bicycle and pedestrian paths are in the county.
“Every time I’m out running or cycling, I see more people out appreciating these amazing green spaces,” exclaimed Yeager. “I encourage everyone get out and experience our breathtaking trails.”
