Sean Gatti

ean Gatti sits leisurely at a VTA bus stop off 4th and San Fernando Streets in San Jose. He’s waiting on Bus Line 81 to head home. Gatti is in sales and at the moment, is in between jobs. But that fact doesn’t seem to have an adverse affect on Gatti, who has a calm demeanor and quiet confidence that is apparent the instant he speaks about his experience in the Bay Area.
Gatti is from Argentina and has been in the United States for a couple of years. He hails from a town called Mar Del Plata; roughly translated, it means the Sea of Silver. Gatti is proud of his homeland and boasts a great public transportation system.
“In my country, there are more buses than here. But I like VTA, it stops right in front of my house,” said Gatti.
These days, Gatti takes solace in anything that reminds him of home. His longest commute averages about an hour and a half. Of course his more recent trips have varied in duration depending on his job interview location. Gatti admits that the global recession has taken its toll. Nevertheless, he seems to relish his excursions on VTA.
“I own two cars but I enjoy taking the bus. It’s very comforting,” said Gatti.
