4. Proposed VTA Sales and Use Tax Measure
Members Noe, McHugh and Ex-Officio Member McLemore
took their seats at 5:37 p.m.
Adopted Resolution No. 00.08.48 on a vote of 11 ayes to 1 noes to 0 abstentions calling for a special election to be consolidated with the statewide election to be held on November 7, 2000, to authorize VTA to impose a sales and use tax for transit purposes for a period of 30 years, incorporating the amendments to the capital funding element for at least two future rail transit corridors to be determined by major investment studies adding to that element: 1) continuation of Downtown/East Valley to the Guadalupe line; 2) Vasona Light Rail from Winchester to Vasona Junction; and, 3) begin initial study of a BART connection from Santa Clara through Palo Alto to San Mateo County; to take effect upon the expiration of the current County of Santa Clara 1996 Measure B half cent sales tax.
