VTA Provides Free Rides on New Years Eve

San Jose, Calif. — The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will continue its annual tradition of providing free rides on New Year’s Eve. The free service is provided to encourage everyone to enjoy the holiday safely while traveling to festivities around Santa Clara County.
Free service will be offered on all VTA Buses, and Light Rail Lines from 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31, 2007, until 3:59 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2008. VTA will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on New Year’s Day.
In addition, VTA will extend service several hours past the regular schedule on VTA’s Express Bus Line 180, which operates between the San Jose Diridon Station and the Fremont BART station. On light rail, the Alum Rock to Santa Teresa and Mountain View to Winchester Light Rail Lines will also operate longer to provide more time for a safe travel alternative.
On Monday, December 31, 2007, VTA’s Customer Service Representatives will be available from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and VTA’s Downtown Customer Service Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
