VTAs LIGHT RAIL TRACK REHABILITATION NOVEMBER 15 through December 3
VTAs LIGHT RAIL TRACK REHABILITATION NOVEMBER 15 through December 3
San Jose, Calif. – Beginning on Thursday, November 15, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will begin light rail track rehabilitation throughout the system by way of grinding and profiling the tracks to provide a smoother surface for vehicles to operate. Over time, tracks experience wear and tear due to constant interaction with light rail vehicle wheels. This rehabilitation effort extends the useful life of both the track system and light rail vehicle wheels, and serves to considerably reduce the noise level (squealing, squeaking and crunching sounds) of the operating system.
Crews will be grinding the rail during the dates and times indicated below, weather and conditions permitting. The grinding of rail will cause significant noise.
