VTA Calling for Candidates for its Committee for Transit Accessibility Vacancies

San Jose, Calif. –The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is seeking Santa Clara County residents to serve on the Committee for Transit Accessibility (CTA). The committee advises the Board of Directors on matters pertaining to accessibility of the bus and light rail system and paratransit services.
The committee's members include persons with disabilities, representatives of human service agencies within the county, one board member and VTA's paratransit broker. The CTA advises the Board on bus and light rail accessibility issues, paratransit service, public facilities and programs, and VTA's efforts to fully comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
VTA is accepting applications. VTA formed the CTA to facilitate communications and receive input from interested individuals with disabilities and from human service agencies. The committee iscomposed of 21 members, who are appointed by the Board of Directors. Regular meetings of the committee are held on a quarterly basis.
