Nighttime VTA Light Rail Maintenance Work Now Underway
No Service Impact to Passengers

San Jose, Calif.- Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has now begun a previously announced rail grinding project that will involve heavy equipment working on VTA light rail tracks during night hours. The work does not affect light rail passenger service.
Benefits:
Quieter train operations for nearby neighborhoods, smoother rides for passengers
Short-term Impacts:
Nighttime noise levels that will not exceed 85 decibels at a distance of 25
feet. Work at any one location is typically finished within 20-40 minutes.
Times:
11:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., nightly
Dates:
January 28 through February 4—First Street San Jose, from San Carlos to Rosemary
February 5—San Carlos, from Almaden to Woz Way
February 6—San Carlos, Almaden to Market
February 7 through February 23—Embedded track between the Old Ironsides and Lick Mill light rail stations, and light rail/street intersections, from Mountain View to San Jose, plus minor miscellaneous work throughout the light rail system.
