Let VTA Do the Driving! Ride Stress-Free to San Jose Jazz Festival

Release Number:   NR 10 08 01
Release Date:   Aug 12, 2010

San Jose, Calif. – Every year, the San Jose Jazz Festival attracts thousands of jazz enthusiasts to downtown San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is reminding people to take the green alternative and ride public transportation to avoid traffic and parking hassles.

The 21st AT&T San Jose Jazz Festival begins this Friday, August 13 through Sunday, August 15 and is well served by VTA Bus and Light Rail. Leaving the car at home or parking free at one of VTA’s 20 Park and Ride lots throughout the county and taking transit is economical and stress-free.

Purchase an 8-Hour Light Rail Excursion Pass and ride light rail to any downtown station (Santa Clara, Paseo de San Antonio, or Convention Center stations).  Extra cars will be added to VTA trains to accommodate the large crowds.  VTA Bus Lines 22, 23, 64, 66, 68, 72, 73, 82, Express 180, or Rapid 522 (which does not operate on Sunday) also conveniently serve downtown San Jose.

VTA, an event sponsor providing advertising space for the festival, is hosting the Friday night concert on the main stage located in Plaza de Cesar Chavez. VTA Board Chair and San Jose City Council member Sam Liccardo will be introducing the innovators of P-Funk, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic.

For a customized trip plan to the festival, please contact VTA Customer Service at (408) 321-2300, for the hearing impaired only (408) 321-2330.  You can also log onto www.vta.org and sign-up to receive VTA email updates.  Find us on Facebook under “SCVTA”, Twitter under “SantaclaraVTA”, and YouTube at www.youtube.com/scvta.
