Stuff the VTA Bus with Toys for Tots
VTA Aims to Beat Record Turnout Last Year
| Release Number: | NR 10 12 03 |
| Release Date: | Dec 08, 2010 |
San Jose, Calif. – In its fifteenth year, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is providing a bus for the annual “Stuff the VTA Bus” Toys for Tots Drive event this Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Santa Clara County Chapter of Toys for Tots, the U.S. Marine Corps and VTA are collecting as many unwrapped, new toys as possible for children who may not expect to receive a gift this year. Help change that by making a toy or cash donation at this year’s Toys for Tots Drive located next to Christmas in the Park in downtown San Jose.
“Last year, VTA had to provide a second bus to accommodate the estimated 4,500 toys that were donated. The community’s generosity was overwhelming,” said VTA General Manager Michael Burns. “We are aiming to exceed last year’s record turnout and we have a second bus on standby ready to be filled with toys.”
Look for a new VTA hybrid bus located on Market Street adjacent to the Fairmont Hotel between San Carlos and San Fernando Streets. Take an easy VTA Light Rail trip to downtown San Jose and donate a toy to a child in need. This area is also served by VTA Bus Lines 22, 23, 63, 64, 65, 66, 68, 72, 73, 81, 82 and 180.
