VTA Teams Up with U.S. Marine Corps for Toys for Tots Drive

“Stuff the VTA Bus” Challenge to Beat Last Year’s Record Turnout

Release Number:   NR 12 12 01
Release Date:   Dec 04, 2012

San Jose, Calif. – Each year, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) teams up with the United States Marine Corps to “Stuff the VTA Bus” for the annual Toys for Tots Drive located next to Christmas in the Park in downtown San Jose. Last year, VTA and the Marines collected over 5,300 toys and $600 in cash. This year, they are challenging the community to stuff the bus until it bursts! Join the spirited effort on Saturday, December 8th from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to collect as many unwrapped, new toys as possible for children who may not expect to receive a gift this year.

“We look forward to this event every holiday season,” said VTA’s General Manager Michael T. Burns. “Our community always shows overwhelming generosity through toy and cash donations, customarily outdoing themselves from previous years.”

Look for the wrapped VTA hybrid bus located on Market Street adjacent to the Fairmont Hotel between San Carlos and San Fernando Streets. Take an easy light rail trip to downtown San Jose or hop on one of the many VTA bus routes that serve this area: VTA Lines 22, 23, 63, 64, 65, 66, 68, 72, 73, 81, 82 and 181.

Please join us and donate a toy that will go to a child in need of a brighter holiday!
