| Release Number: | nr 09 11 04 |
| Release Date: | Nov 09, 2009 |
WHO: The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA).
WHAT: Despite reports this morning in some media outlets, there are no light rail service delays in downtown San Jose this morning or through Wednesday and the Convention Center Light Rail Station is open for service.
VTA has now completed three consecutive WEEKENDS of rail rehabilitation work in downtown San Jose and, as previously indicated in both news releases and media advisories, light rail service resumed at the start of the service day this morning.
WHEN & WHERE: The intersection of Almaden Boulevard and San Carlos Street in downtown San Jose. As previously announced, construction at that site, from approximately 10 p.m. Friday, November 6 until midnight Sunday, November 8, required the closure of the light rail tracks at that location, with VTA providing free substitute bus service around the construction site. The substitute bus service was discontinued once normal light rail service resumed.
WHY: The light rail tracks were replaced as a maintenance procedure.
