VTA to Implement Annual Transit Service Plan

Service Changes Effective July 13, 2009
WHO: Santa Clara County residents and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA).
WHAT: VTA to implement several major service changes, including discontinuing Line 15 in Morgan Hill, frequency modifications and rerouting of several bus lines.
Lines 14 and 17 will be restructured to provide two-way service instead of a one-way loop in Gilroy, and the frequency on both lines will also be increased to 30 minute service on weekdays.
Lines 66 and 68 weekday service will be improved to operate every 15 minutes over the entire routes.
Express 180 will operate only between Fremont BART and the Great Mall using the current routing every 30 minutes during the day and 60 minutes in the evening on weekdays. Express 180 will continue operating between Fremont BART, Great Mall and downtown San Jose on weekends. Express 181 will operate on Stevenson Boulevard and Interstate 880 (instead of Interstate 680) to reduce travel time between downtown San Jose and Fremont. It will operate all day and evening on weekdays with 15 minute frequency during peak hours, 30 minute frequency during the midday and hourly frequency in the evening.
WHEN & WHERE: Monday, July 13, 2009. VTA bus and light rail system.
WHY: VTA plans to implement service changes that stem from public input on VTA’s Annual Transit Service Plan. The service change will impact more than 40 VTA bus routes.
A detailed explanation of all of the changes is available online and printed in a special July Service Change brochure to be distributed during the last week of June 2009. Maps are included for routes with extensive changes to service hours, frequency and routing. All times listed are approximate.
