Inquiries regarding this project should be directed to:
VTA Community Outreach
Crews will be trenching for and installing ductbanks and conduits alongside and under existing track and also digging and installing concrete foundations for overhead electrical system (OES) poles.
In the VTA light rail corridor between Whisman Station and Central Expressway.
Beginning at 11 p.m. on Friday, May 15 and working continuously until Monday, May 18, 2105.
Much of this work, for safety reasons, needs to be done while the OES is powered down. The extended, continuous weekend-long work period means less work must be undertaken during the short four to five hour work periods available to the contractor on weeknights after 11 p.m.
Mountain View Double Track Project
The Mountain View Double Track project, one of a series of projects known as the VTA Light Rail Train Efficiency Program, includes installing a second set of light rail tracks between the Mountain View and Whisman stations. The work will require the closure of the underutilized Evelyn Light Rail Station. The purpose of this project is to eliminate the current bottle neck caused by the single track operation in this area of Mountain View and provide storage space to stage multiple vehicles to service future BART service and special events at Levi’s Stadium.
