Final Paving Begins at Stevens Creek/I-280 Interchange

Final paving of a rubberized asphalt will begin Thursday night throughout the project area, with an estimated six nights of work need to pave both Stevens Creek Boulevard and each of the affected on- and off-ramps. This work is dependent on a minimum overnight temperature of 55 degrees.

Stevens Creek Boulevard will be paved  between the Monroe/Stevens Creek Boulevard intersection past the on- and off-ramps east of the freeway. Each of the ramps to or from I-280, I-880 and SR 17 will also be paved.

Crews will work from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. This is the tentative schedule, which is subject to change:

Thursday, May 28 --NB I-280 to NB I-880 flyover
Friday, May 29 --NB SR 17 and NB I-280 to Stevens Creek ramps
Sunday, May 31

--SB I-880 to Stevens Creek off-ramp
--WB Stevens Creek Boulevard to SB SR 17 on-ramp

Monday, June 1 --EB Stevens Creek boulevard to NB I-880 on-ramp,
--SB I-280 to NB I-880 ramp
--any remaining work on the on-ramp from WB Stevens Creek Boulevard to SB SR-17,
Tuesday and Wednesday, June 2 and 3 --Stevens Creek Boulevard

Final paving is typically done near the end of the project and the I-280/I-880/Stevens Creek Boulevard Interchange Improvements Project is nearly complete.
Traffic Impacts:
Expect multiple lane and ramp closures during this work. Standard detours will be in effect. Traffic signals in this area will also revert to timed operation (rather than on-demand or programmed operation) for a period of up to two weeks as final striping takes place and traffic-detecting loops are installed in the roadway.
