I-280/I-880/Stevens Creek Boulevard
Interchange Improvements Project

North Side of Stevens Creek Blvd. Bridge Re-Opens
Activities are in full swing as the project enters its last few weeks of active construction.
After being closed for a number of months, the north side of the Stevens Creek Boulevard bridge over I-880 has re-opened to pedestrians. The walkways include new pedestrian call pedestals at the southbound (SB) I-880 off-ramp crosswalk, new screening and a rebuilt sidewalk.
The south side of the bridge will be closed to pedestrians for about three weeks as the contractor completes work between the southeast corner of Monroe Street and Stevens Creek Boulevard and the on-ramp to SB SR 17.
Final paving is almost complete, with the contractor scheduled to pave portions of SB I-880 on Monday night. Currently, most areas of the project still have temporary striping. Final striping is beginning and will continue for several weeks. Some lane configurations, particularly on the ramps, will change once final striping is in place.
Other upcoming activities in the next several weeks includes installing traffic loop detectors, finishing the raised center median, installing signs, slope paving and placing permanent crash barriers on on-and off-ramps.
Multiple lane and ramp closures, with standard detours in effect, will be utilized as paving is completed and final striping is applied.
Also, traffic signals at project intersections will be on timed operation (rather than on-demand or programmed operation) for a period of up to two weeks while traffic detector devices are placed.
