Downtown East Valley

About the Project

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is proposing transportation improvements in the Downtown East Valley area. The plan includes the following elements:

• Capitol Expressway Corridor: Light rail transit (LRT) from the existing Alum Rock Light Rail Station (near Capitol Avenue) to Nieman Boulevard.
  
  
• Santa Clara/Alum Rock Corridor: Enhanced Bus Service or Single Car Light Rail transit from the San Jose Diridon Station to the Alum Rock Light Rail Station.
  
  
• Monterey Highway Corridor: Bus Rapid Transit from the San Jose Diridon Station to the Santa Teresa Station on the Guadalupe LRT Line.

Community outreach and public participation are key elements throughout the process and will carry each phase through final design and construction. In addition to the regularly scheduled Policy Advisory Board meetings and VTA-hosted community meetings, VTA Community Outreach staff is also available to come speak with local groups and organizations upon request.
