This 8.2-mile extension of VTA Light Rail transit begins at the Baypointe Transfer Station, continues east along Tasman Drive from North First Street to I-880, then along Great Mall Parkway and Capitol Avenue, and ends just south of Alum Rock Avenue.

Tasman East Light Rail Extension was planned and built in two segments:

Tasman East Light Rail, Segment One:

  • Three stations:
    • Baypointe Transfer Station
    • Cisco Way
    • I-880/Milpitas

 

Tasman East Light Rail, Segment Two:

Placeholder for Light Rail Vehicle at Alum Rock Station photo3.0 miles in the median of Capitol Avenue between Alder Drive and just south of Hostetter Road, including a 7,200-foot bridge structure for grade separation from two freight railroad lines and Montague Expressway.

  • Four stations:
    • Great Mall/Main
    • Montague
    • Cropley  
    • Hostetter

Capitol Light Rail Segment:

3.3 miles in the median of Capitol Avenue continuing from the end of Tasman East Segment Two to just south of Alum Rock Avenue.

  • Four stations with a future fifth station:
    • Berryessa
    • Penitencia Creek
    • McKee  
    • Gay Avenue (future station pending funding)
    • Alum Rock
