  • Large shelters designed to protect passengers from heat, rain and wind also include an information kiosk, pay phone, ticket vending machine and both leaning rails and benches.
  • Additional benches outside of the canopies.
  • Landscaping which includes trees and shrubs, and planter boxes that provide additional seating.
  • Distinctively designed lighting that ensures that stations are well lit at nighttime.
  • Digital message board signs that indicate the time and provide information on light rail service.
  • Safety features include railing along platform edges adjacent to the street and outside of passenger boarding areas along the track, as well as a tactile warning band along the platform edge.
Design Features and Community Oriented Design Enhancement (CODE) Program Projects:

San Jose artist Diana Pumpelly Bates has created metal screens for the shelters that provide visual interest for passengers at the stations as well as for motorists and pedestrians passing by the stations.  The designs reflect the rising and setting sun.

Extensive pedestrian improvements lead to the station along Southwest Expressway, including lighting and landscaping.
