Project Description
|
This 5.3-mile extension of VTA Light Rail transit begins at the intersection of Woz Way and West San Carlos Street in Downtown San Jose, and continues on a dedicated right-of way crossing Park Avenue, San Fernando Street, Delmas Avenue, Autumn Street, and Montgomery Street. At this point, the alignment crosses in a tunnel segment underneath the San Jose Diridon Depot/Station.
At street level, the alignment follows along the existing Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way continuing west towards mid-town San Jose and crosses Auzerais Avenue, Sunol Street, Lincoln Avenue, Race Street and Parkmoor Avenue.

After crossing Meridian Avenue and Interstate 280, the line runs parallel to Southwest Expressway crossing Fruitdale Avenue, Leigh Avenue, and Stokes Street. After crossing Bascom Avenue, the line bridges over Hamilton Avenue and Route 17 into the City of Campbell. Back at street level, the line crosses Civic Center Drive, East Campbell Avenue and Orchard City Drive in downtown Campbell. The line ends just south of downtown Campbell, running parallel to Railway Avenue and crossing Kennedy Avenue to the Winchester Station.
