August 11, 2015 (Activities Update)

On July 9, 2015, the contractor struck a live gas line on Alum Rock at Ribbs Lane. The gas line was repaired and service restored later that same day. There was no other apparent damage. However, due to this major utility hit and other safety concerns, VTA has directed the contractor to cease all construction activities in the field while VTA and the contractor work to ensure resolution of all safety concerns.

Community safety is VTA’s top priority, and we are working with the contractor to ensure all safety concerns are resolved before resuming construction. During this stand down period, the contractor will continue to maintain a clean and safe construction zone, and maintain the traffic control along Alum Rock Avenue.

While we understand this prolongs the construction project, community safety is a top priority.  We will continue to update you on the progress and to share a more comprehensive schedule update for you, including a schedule for the installation of the new shelters.

To download this update please select Activites Update, 8-11-15. If you have any questions regarding the Santa Clara-Alum Rock Bus Rapid Transit Project, please contact our information line, 408.321.7575.

  • Construction
  • August 11, 2015 (Activities Update)
