Adopt-A-Stop Program

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) provides dependable, safe and accessible transportation for the residents and visitors of Santa Clara County. Using public transportation is one method of helping to reduce pollution to our environment as well as providing a link to work, shopping, and family.
Individuals, civic organizations, private companies, schools, as well as church groups are welcome to join the effort in cleaning up our environment. VTA bus stops provide passengers with a safe and comfortable place to rest while waiting for the bus. With over 4,500 bus stops across Santa Clara County, keeping each location clean is a difficult task. Your participation in this program will make our community a better place to live. Everyone benefits from this environmentally conscious program – property owners, businesses, visitors and transit riders.
It’s Simple!
Adopt-A-Stop volunteers agree to keep their designated bus stop clean. This involves picking up litter, reporting damage and generally keeping the area around the stop free of debris and unsightly clutter. Volunteers also agree to call VTA to inform us of graffiti or other concerns with their adopted stop. VTA will install an adoption sign at that stop recognizing you as a program participant. As an added bonus, VTA will feature you in a select publications and programs. There is a limit of 6 stops per volunteer.
Volunteer Benefits
Adopt-A-Stop volunteers receive:
- Volunteer Recognition Certificate
- A sign recognizing your volunteer work at the bus stop
- A possible feature article in VTA’s rider newsletter and/or the VTA website
