ADA Paratransit Service for Eco Pass Participants

Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) contracts with Outreach and Escort, Inc. (Outreach), a local non-profit agency, to provide paratransit services to persons with disabilities who are unable to use VTA’s fixed-route Bus and Light Rail services. Paratransit is a specialized form of transportation that provides door-to-door service to persons with disabilities. VTA offers this service to persons with disabilities as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Persons with disabilities who are eligible for Outreach ADA Paratransit and are employees of companies or members of Eco Pass organizations receive a fare credit for their paratransit standard trips equal to the fare of an Adult Single-Ride on VTA Bus/Light Rail (currently $1.75). No credit will be provided for any other type of paratransit trip, including premium services or service surcharges. The following is some general information about the process to become eligible to use the paratransit services:

  • Employees may contact Outreach to begin the certification process for ADA paratransit service eligibility. Outreach will send a pre-screening brochure which will provide more information and describe the application process.
  • Applicants for ADA paratransit eligibility must inform Outreach about their Eco Pass status. Upon being certified as eligible to receive ADA paratransit services, participants are required to provide Outreach with a photocopy of their Eco Pass ID card with the Eco Pass sticker attached, as proof of being a participant in the Eco Pass Program.
  • Once your application has been approved, and the appropriate Eco Pass ID is submitted to Outreach, you will be able to use the paratransit services offered by Outreach, as long as you maintain your status with the company participating in the Eco Pass Program. You will be asked to periodically present the required information to Outreach to confirm your status.

To request an application for paratransit certification, please contact Outreach at:
