Short Range Transit Plan
The SRTP serves as the primary justification for receipt of Federal and State grants for transit operations and capital projects. The SRTP is prepared by VTA staff and is adopted by the VTA Board of Directors. VTA’s most recent SRTP was adopted in February 2010 and covers Fiscal Years 2010 through 2019. The PDF document is available for download below.
Key ElementsAt the heart of the SRTP are three key elements which coincide with the three chapters in the document. The first chapter details the performance of VTA’s transit services during Fiscal Year 2009 (July 2008 through June 2009). Chapter 2 is VTA’s operating plan, which projects revenues and expenses for the next ten years. Chapter 3 presents VTA’s capital program through 2019, including the BART to Silicon Valley project and various Measure A projects. The 2010 SRTP also includes the new VTA 2009-2024 Fleet Management Plan as Appendix B. You can download the Fleet Management Plan as a standalone document via the link below.
Document OutlineThe 2010-2019 SRTP consists of three chapters and four appendices:

- Appendix A: Ballot Text of Measure A
- Appendix B: FY 2009-2024 Fleet Management Plan

Full vs. Mini
VTA prepares a “Full” SRTP every 4th year, in accordance with MTC requirements. The Full SRTPs are identical to the “Mini” SRTPs but have additional background content such as the history and governance of the agency and a community outreach strategy. The most recent Full SRTP (2008) is available below as well.
