What
  • Contractors will be conducting surface geophysical testing near the intersection of North 30th St and East Saint James St adjacent to the future 28th St/Little Portugal Station to help prepare for VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II Project.
Where
  • The work will take place on N 30th St. and on E St James Street.

When*
  • Work will be conducted Wed. May 22.
  • General working hours will be 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. (Work on N 30th St is planned to end at 1pm).

* Please note that timelines for construction activity have some inherent uncertainty and may change depending on field conditions and/or inclement weather.

What to Expect
  • The work activity will include field equipment that includes a control box, electrical wire, and ground probes. 
  • The equipment will be laid out on the ground over a maximum distance of 60 ft. for each of the three locations.
  • During this site testing activity there will be one open lane, traffic cones, and two people there to direct traffic at the work area. 
  • This work activity typically does not generate dust.
  • This work is not anticipated to affect school pick-up and drop-off access.
Why
  • Necessary to help prepare for VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II Project.
