With Clipper® Card, passengers who have a 2-zone or greater Caltrain monthly pass (1-zone monthly pass for Senior/Disabled) receive free transfers to and from VTA local, limited stop bus, bus rapid transit and light rail. Adult customers wishing to upgrade to VTA Express routes may do so for a $2.50** upgrade fee which can only be paid by using cash fare loaded on the Clipper card. Transferring from Caltrain to a VTA Express bus is free for Youth and Senior/Disabled Caltrain Monthly Pass holders with any number of zones.

Caltrain one-way single ride tickets, Day Pass round-trip tickets, Adult and Youth single-zone monthly passes are not eligible for transfer privileges or fare credit. Caltrain Go Pass stickers issued on company ID cards and Go passes on Clipper are not accepted on VTA.

VTA fares with valid+ Caltrain Monthly Pass on Clipper®:
Adult Single Ride: No Charge
Adult Express Single Ride: $2.50
*Youth Single Ride: No Charge
*Youth Express Single Ride: No Charge
*Senior/Disabled Single Ride: No Charge
*Senior/Disabled Express Single Ride: No Charge
* Identification required for Youth, Senior/Disabled fares.
+ Caltrain Monthly pass must be valid as to date and time for the period during which it is used and must be valid for two or more zones for Adult and Youth, or one zone for Senior/Disabled/Medicare passengers.
