Upcoming BART Silicon Valley Contract Award
VTA is reviewing proposals from prequalified engineering and contractor teams on the first major contract to complete design and begin construction (Design-Build contract) on the BART Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension Project. VTA is tentatively scheduled to award the contract in December 2011, if approved by the VTA Board of Directors.
Funding Update
VTA is seeking $900 million in federal funds for the Berryessa Extension Project through the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) New Starts program, with the balance of capital funding provided by state and local sources including 2000 Measure A revenues. Securing the federal money is anticipated early next year through the execution of a Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA). Public meetings are being planned for early 2012 to provide a BART Silicon Valley update.

Items of Interest:
Residential Noise Insulation
Program The Residential Noise Insulation Program (RNIP) will be
implemented to mitigate project noise at eligible residences in the project
corridor where typical mitigation, such as sound wall construction, do not fully
reduce noise levels above the ground floor of multi-level buildings.

Build Prequalified Teams BART Silicon Valley’s Berryessa
Extension will be largely constructed by a Design- Build contractor. VTA has
concluded the prequalification process and issued a Request for Proposals from
four pre-qualified teams. If you have any questions related to the Design Build
