Happy National Customer Service Week! The perfect time to shine a spotlight on the people who are often the very first (and one of the hardest-working) faces of our agency.

At VTA, our Customer Service Department anchors our relationship with riders, smoothing the path when things don’t go as planned, answering questions, solving problems, and creating goodwill.

This week, we pause to say: thank you. 

What you do day in and day out is not easy, but it matters deeply to our riders, to our community, and to the success of VTA’s mission.

Why Customer Service Matters — Especially in Transit

In many industries, the quality of customer service is a key differentiator. In public transit, it’s even more critical: riders rely on us not just for a product, but for safe, dependable, and respectful service.

Research shows that a majority of customers (about 88%) are more likely to return to (or recommend) an organization if they receive good service, even if issues arise.

Every interaction you have, whether by phone, email, in person, or on social media, shapes how people feel about VTA. You’re not just answering questions: you’re building trust.
