ICYMI: Webinar on Adapting to Climate Change
11/13/2023

The importance of working together to protect people and places in our county was the theme of a recent lunchtime public webinar at VTA for the Draft Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP.) Staff from Valley Water and County of Santa Clara took part in the November 7th event to talk about climate change adaptation that is planned or ongoing in Santa Clara County. Highlighted topics included the changing climate, sea level rise, extreme heat, wildfire, and flooding.

Thirty-four participants spent their lunchtime with us to learn more about the different ways VTA is proposing to protect our riders during a climate hazard event. For example, installing cooling amenities such as hydration stations and additional shaded areas to provide refuge from extreme heat or procuring additional flood protection barriers and work on restoring wetlands to slowdown floodwater in an extreme rain event.

In case you missed it, you can watch a recording of the webinar.

The Draft CAAP is available for public review through November 17, 2023. We want to hear from you! Please submit your comments online or email community.outreach@vta.org.

Let's work together to make Santa Clara County an even better place to live!
