Light Rail Rehab

various photos of rail construction

VTA continues to make tremendous progress in overhauling our aging infrastructure. However, the work to keep our system in a state of good repair is ongoing.

Recently, VTA wrapped up work at San Carlos Street and Woz Way.

As work continues, these shutdowns will focus on repairing and replacing items on the light rail tracks and overhead catenary system where equipment is approaching the end of its useful life. As a result, segments of the light rail lines will be closed for construction periodically throughout the year which may result in transit impacts to your commute.

Light Rail Shutdown: July 10

About the Light Rail Shutdown

VTA will be repairing and/or replacing worn elements of the track system at the intersection of N. Capitol Rd. and Mabury Rd and N. Capitol Rd. and McKee Rd.

This work is tentative, we will provide an update on exact dates/locations.

This includes repair of median track barriers and replacement of embedded concrete tracks, signal equipment and OCS components.

Light rail stations for the Orange Line between Hostetter to Alum Rock will be closed. A bus bridge will operate and connect light rail stations.

Riders are strongly encouraged to plan their trips in advance.
