VTA uses the NAICS business code system in its Vendor Portal and other systems for the following purposes:
- Categorize solicitations published in its Vendor Portal
- Help vendors register and subscribe to receive email notifications about solicitations that match their work or interests
- Identify businesses certified by VTA's Office of Business Diversity Programs
Each six-digit NAICS business code represents a specific business activity. These specific business codes are nested within two to five-digit NAICS codes representing broader sectors, subsectors, industry groups, and industries.
