What is a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code?

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is used by the United States, Canada, and Mexico to classify businesses by industry.

VTA uses the NAICS business code system in its Vendor Portal and other systems for the following purposes:

  1. Categorize solicitations published in its Vendor Portal
  2. Help vendors register and subscribe to receive email notifications about solicitations that match their work or interests
  3. Identify businesses certified by VTA's Office of Business Diversity Programs

Each six-digit NAICS business code represents a specific business activity. These specific business codes are nested within two to five-digit NAICS codes representing broader sectors, subsectors, industry groups, and industries.

Search for your NAICS industry codes.
