Regional Transfers

VTA works closely with other area transit operators to provide convenient transfers for regional trips, including regional transfer locations and inter-operator transfer or fare agreements. 

Transfer Agreements:

Highway 17 Express

VTA Paper Day Pass holders (issued from farebox or TVM through Day Pass Token exchange) receive free Local fares on Hwy17 Express. HWY 17 Express Wesbite

Caltrain

VTA Clipper Cash or Contactless Bank Card Riders will receive automatic discount up to $2.85 when transferring from one operator to another within two (2) hours of initial tag. Caltrain Website

BART

VTA Clipper Cash or Contactless Bank Card Riders will receive automatic discount up to $2.85 when transferring from one operator to another within two (2) hours of initial tag.

For example: When a VTA Adult Clipper Cash or Contactless Bank Card Rider tags and pays $2.50 for a VTA local fare, they will receive an automatic $2.50 discount from their BART fare. If their total BART fare was $6.00, then they would only pay $4.50. BART Website

AC Transit

VTA Clipper Cash or Contactless Bank Card Riders will receive automatic discount up to $2.85 when transferring from one operator to another within two (2) hours of initial tag. AC Transit Website

Dumbarton Bridge Express

VTA Clipper Cash or Contactless Bank Card Riders will receive automatic discount up to $2.85 when transferring from one operator to another within two (2) hours of initial tag.

Clipper VTA monthly pass holders and VTA SmartPass riders who board DB Express within 2.5 hours of tagging on VTA receive one local fare credit on DB Express. DB Express Website

Monterey-Salinas Transit

Samtrans

VTA Clipper Cash or Contactless Bank Card Riders will receive automatic discount up to $2.85 when transferring from one operator to another within two (2) hours of initial tag.

VTA Monthly Pass customers using Clipper receive a local fare credit if they board SamTrans within 2 hours of first boarding and tagging their Clipper card on VTA. SamTrans Website
